Spikes & Baron Duel Monster Comet - Card Review #193

Card Name: God Bird Attack (EOJ-JP055)

Effect: Sacrifice a Bird sub-type monster from your field. Destroy 2 cards on the field.

Comment: Well, Welcome to Bird Week.

Anyway, with Bird being one of those weak sub-type out there (Seriously, it's nowhere good), it's time to review the card that make Bird sub-type somewhat better.

Art:
Well, what a God Bird Attack look like?? A bird turning into its "undead" form and strike opponent before it dies.

Well, that's really all the art of this card is - a Bird (Joe) surround by divine Aura / flame, rising up for its final strike of its life...
RATING: 7.0/10

Stats/Requirement:
First, it's a Normal Trap, means the basic requirement are really based upon the rulebook for Trap (Or, in another word, basically not much basic requirement in activation). Not to mention, this card is not "Trigger Trap", means that once it's set for 1 turn, you can pretty much activate it any time as long as you can fulfill its cost.

RATING: NA/10

Effect:
Before long, this review may be one of the shortest I'll ever type...

Anyway, this card is pretty basic - as the art depict, you turn something invincible, make it goes into frenzy, destroy things, and eventually burn out itself.

What I mean, first, the card require you to sacrifice a Bird to activate. This is a cost to this card, means, if opponent is lucky enough to somehow negate this card (Probably [Royal Decree] or [Cry of Living Dead] + Shocker, but, most of the time you chain TO those card anyway...), you lost a Bird for naught as its crazy attack got desolved by the King (or by a Machine or whatever)...but then, it can happen to any Trap card, so, it's not really a fault in itself...

Anyway, as it gains the divine power by pretty much sacrificing itself, it'll have to utilized it, right? Well, you get to destroy 2 cards on the field in return.

Is this good? Well, normally you can always use this card as a removal. But, the main point for this card being a Trap is, you can also respond to opponent's action when he's about to destroy your Birds. Means, if opponent is about to make your Bird die by Crushing the Earth (Which make no sense flavorize, but then, who cares about Flavor) or wearing a Armor that sends the monster attack right back or whatever, you can always chain this card and destroy opponent's cards + waste one of his removal. It works the same way with this card about to be destroy by something like [Mobius] or [MST] as well, you can always chain this card to destroy some of opponent's card (Even though it may sometimes be stupid to do so if opponent have no card, as you'll have to now destroy your own card...).

Overall, that's really all to this card.

RATING: 8.8/10

OVERALL - 8.0/10 - True, I can really give this card a MUCH higher rating. But what make this card rating drop so much? Consider the absurd amount of Bird out there that can't really be used, and the most symbolic birds pretty much have a restriction in itself (Harpy are limited to 3 out of 5 possible choice, or 15 cards, and the best bird by far, Nepthrys, is limited, even though Nepthrys WON'T come back if you use it with this card). Overall, the card itself makes Bird sub-type viable, but with the impossibility to really splash this card into any deck, it just can't go MUCH higher than the standard 8-8.5/10 rating.
