Card Article 4: Legendary, Blue Eyes

My third card article, long long time since my last one...

This article will be center around Kaiba's signature card, Blue Eyes White Dragon. Many would know that card, how much impact it done when it first came out (being the first ever KoJ printed Yu-Gi-Oh Card)

I'll start off this article with Blue Eyes White Dragon

Blue Eyes White Dragon
Light/Dragon/8/3000/2500

Being suppose to be the card that have highest attack in the game, well, it still stay strong, just as a brute power.

The card basically have nothing special, it's basically a 2-tribute with 3000 ATK, pretty much straight forward. Smarter people would know there is better cards out there than this one? But Why I choose BEWD? Other than having 10+ arts, it's one of those card you can base a deck on.

Next, I'll move onto Holy Knight of White Dragon and its Ritual.

Holy Knight of White Dragon
Light/Dragon - Ritual/4/1900/1200
Summoned by a [White Dragon Descent]. Sacrifice Monsters from your hand and/or the Field that have a total level of 4 or more. When this Monster attacks a Monster in face-down defense mode, destroy the Monster without doing damage. During your Main Phase, you can sacrifice this Monster to Special Summon 1 [Blue Eyes White Dragon] from your hand or deck. (The [Blue Eyes White Dragon] that is special summoned by this card's effect can't attack the turn it's special summon)

White Dragon Descent
Magic - Ritual
Needed to Summon a [Holy Knight of White Dragon]. Sacrifice Monsters
from your hand and/or the Field that have a total level of 4 or more
to special summon a [Holy Knight of White Dragon].

This card is really, the heart of a BEWD Deck.

Well, being a Ritual monster itself, this card have to be summon by [White Dragon Descent], sacrifice lvl. 4 or less, bah...

This card, though, is actually kind of easy to summon. With only requirement of 4 Level, you can sacrifice something such as Manju God (After you search Ritual / Holy Knight), or even 4 Goats to summon this thing, as easy as that.

Being a 1900 ATK isn't that bad, but looks at the DEF, it's 1200, which make it Witch searchable, means easier to summon.

The first effect is quite nice, a build in [Severing Samurai] like effect, can destruct any face-down monster in no time, without worrying it's Filp effect monster.

The Second effect really, speed up BEWD deck by much, WHY? Basically sacrifice this thing (Most likely, you want to do it in Main Phase 2), summon a BEWD from your deck/hand, Reborn this card, summon another one. Just hope your opponent don't have a Black Hole or Mirror Force waiting for you.

Who cares they can't attack the turn they're summon, use it in Main Phase 2...

I'll move onto Kaiser Seahorse.

Kaiser Seahorse
Light/Sea Dragon/4/1700/1650
If this monster is sacrifice in a sacrifice summon to summon a Light monster, this 1 card can count as 2 tribute

Kaiser Seahorse, currently released in Kaiba Evolution Starter Deck in English, and first released in Kaiba Structure Deck, Vol. 1 in Japanese OCG, is quite useful if use correctly.

First thing you think of a Light Main-Type 2-trib monster and Kaiba, you should have already related this card to BEWD itself. Yes, this card is basically release for BEWD.

1700 ATK isn't bad, 1650 DEF, though, make it unsearchable, which is a drawback to this monster.

The effect basically let you treat this card as 2-tribute instead of 1, that's mean, instead of sacrificing 2 monster to summon, let say, BEWD, you can summon it now for 1 tribute by sacrificing this card.

Nothing much else is left to said, but yes, this card works with Gilford and Alien, and can also be used with Guardian Angel - Joan. But basically, you'll be more than likely finding this card in a BEWD deck.

P.S. This is 1 of the 9 Sea Dragon in the game...

I'll move onto Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon

Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon
Light/Dragon - Fusion/12/4500/3800
[Blue Eyes White Dragon] + [Blue Eyes White Dragon] + [Blue Eyes White Dragon]

Self explanatory, the big bad Fusion of 3 BEWD.

Well, nah, why should I use it with BEWD? This card is almost impossible to be summon by fusing Blue Eyes White Dragons together...even with the Fusion sub.

Luckily there is a card call Devil Franken, or else it's useless.

The old Franken + BEUD + Megamorph combo...cough...yes, this card is the strongest Fusion that can be summon by Franken, and 4500 ATK can whoop the crap out of opponent easily (Again, I'm assuming no Mirror Force/Black Hole). The combo basically...pay 5000 LP using Franken, summon BEUD, equip Megamorph (Unless your opponent LP is lower than 3000, in that case, just attack directly). The combo is kind of hard to pull off nowaday, but, when the combo is first released in Kaiba Structure, Vol. 1, Franken and Megamorph hits the Restriction for no apparant reason.

That's all it's to this card, I don't like it myself, it's stupid to get such monster out anyway when everyone have Mirror Force nowaday.

P.S. This card is misprinted in the Sturcture Box when it's reprinted as a Ultimate Rare, since instead of just [Dragon/Fusion] it read [Dragon - Fusion / Effect], I don't see any effect on this card? Where is it?

I'll move onto Knight of Ultimate Dragon next.

Knight of Ultimate Dragon
Light/Dragon-Fusion-Effect/12/5000/5000
[Chaos Soldier] + [Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon]
This card can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summoned. Increase this Monster's attack strength by 500 for each other Dragon Sub-Type Monster on the Field other than [Knight of Ultimate Dragon].

Hmm...one of the card (or cards) of the week, read Baron's review of this card in http://dmcomet.tripod.com/cotw/65.htm

This card, being one of the two 5000 ATK monster in the game (The other, another Dragon, F.G.D.), this card is actually quite easy to use.

First, this card can ONLY be Fusion Summon, by [Chaos Soldier] (The Ritual version, NOT the 306 one) and [BEUD], unless you use Fusion sub (Which is legal, for those idiot that said it's not legal)

Being 5000 ATK, of course, is certainly strong, but the part that said "Can only be special summon by Fusion summon" means no reborn, no Franken, no Metamorph, etc. which is quite a drawback for this card, as most opponent would kill this thing in no time (Unless your opponent sux)

The effect of this card, which increase this card attack, isn't necessary in my opinion. With 5000 ATK, you can basically gets around 99.9% of monster in this game. But, if you want to, run a DNA Surgery with Goat to make this card go insane.

Otherwise, I would recommand putting it in your binder, unless you have too much fun and use this thing.

I'll move onto my last card, Burst Stream of Destruction, released in 308.

Burst Stream of Destruction
Magic - Normal
Only can activate when you have [Blue Eyes White Dragon] on the field, destory all opponent monster on the field, [Blue Eyes White Dragon] can't attack that turn.

Last card of the article...such a short one.

This card is actualy one of those staples in a BEWD deck, especially after the ban? WHY? Self-explanatory, it destory every monster on opponent field.

Who cares [Blue Eyes White Dragon] can't attack that turn (ALL of them), use this card with Holy Knight, since BEWD can't attack the same turn, why not just use this card to take advantage of that.

Well, my own BEWD Deck (Thanks OCG!)

Simple Black Magician Deck
