Article 59: Shattered Engine
Well, as usual, I write article semi-annually when a new ban list comes out, this time is no different.
New Ban:
Confiscate - Simply annoying for people to pull this card out the 1st turn, then Trap Dustshoot / Mind Crush, your hand gone by Turn 3. I'm fine with it anyway (I don't put the card in deck very often anyway...)
Theft - Whoever unban this card in the first place deserved to be spank...HARD.
Destruction Ring - Read Theft, except that whoever unban this card need to be spank harder.
Metamorphosis - I'll say I underestimate the power of this card. This ban semi-kill Demise-Dozer. Not that surprising, even though a restriction can already kill 99% of Meta-related combo.
New Restriction:
Saint Magician - Baron will be VERY happy. Nice to see someone actually THINK instead of simply hating the card (Cough...Mr. Tewart)
Magic Warrior Breaker - I LOVE this, people HATE this. Why? Breaker IS one of my favorite card...
D-Hero Discguy - Doesn't hurt Diskguy engine THAT much (Many only use 1 anyway), but this card is ridiculous in the first place (Reborning this card is 2-card advantage...)
Card Gunner - Pure for TCG, with this card running around rampantly.
Giant Growth - Little bit overkill with Meta banned, but then, it's Konami's standard to overkill...
Snipestalker - Many think this is pure TCG-banning. But nope - it's a Gadget-deck killing, part 1.
Brain Control - Take them almost 2 years to finally figure out that this card is broken and should be gone LONG time ago.
Earth Crush - I HATE this card, but this is really Gadget-killing, part 2. In the end, though, this card makes untargetable monster bad, and pretty much annoying as you KNOW your monster won't ever survived no matter how hard you try.
Fissure - Pure Gadget hate, part 3. I guess Konami just don't want people to replace all their Earth Crush with Fissure...
Dust Chute - This card survived the last list, but this time around, gone to dust (literally) with people CONTINUE to used 3.
Phophecy of Reincarnation - While this card isn't really used that much, this + D.D. Borderline is a VERY great way to stall. Along with various way to used this card to make sure you don't ever deck out, and helping someone reusing various cards = This card get the axed.
Wall of Revealing Light
- Pure anti-stall. Being the last surviving "big" stall card, I'm not surprised by the restriction.
New Semi-Restriction:
Android Psycho Shocker - Shocked? I'm not quite. NO ONE use this card, period. Guess it takes a semi-restriction for this card to get into the spotlight again.
Jar of Avarice - I like this. This should relief the annoying fact that it's impossible for some deck to draw cards just b/c they're theme, which is VERY stupid.
Emissary of Obliteration - Never should have been restrict in the first place. And this card makes sure MPT doesn't run wild.
D-Hero Diabolicguy - Simply trying to curb down D-Hero engine by a bit, doesn't make much difference in my opinion.
Gadgets (Red, Green, Yellow) - FINALLY. Restricting them is too much, while 3 each is also too much. 2 is a good compromise. This doesn't kill Gadget, only makes them somewhat weaker.
Imperial Control - Somewhat questionable. It's pretty much anti-Gadget, but Gadget is already weaken enough...
New Unrestrict:
D.D. Assailant - Ditto. The card itself isn't really as good as it was, but it's still quite good that, in my opinion, should just stay semi-restricted.
Goblin Management Expert - Whoever unrestrict this card deserved credit. Well, the card is NEVER used, and the unrestriction help ease the difficulty of card draw.
Protector of Sanctuary - The only combo you can pull off with this card is with [Morphing Jar] anyway. How often that happen? Almost never. With Crossout at 2, even less chance.
DDVM - Take them long enough to see that this card is just not that broken (Without Dark Realm + Angel's Gift, just not that useful to get rid of a 2000+ monster)
Overall, this list is above average. It's not perfect, but as always, there ARE experiments that Konami do each list (For this one, semi-restricting Shocker) while not going WAY too far (At least this list doesn't go ahead and restrict each Emperors).
Something I'm surprised / disagree with:
1. Frog is not banned - This card is the heart and soul of a Monarch deck, it stay intact.
2. LnDD isn't on the list - I like the decision, just that I'm surprised they didn't touch the card.
3. 1000-Eye Sacrifice is still ban - Konami ALWAYS forgot about old card on list, and this card is one. Without Meta, Stein, and Scientist, this card just go nowhere (Do NOT say that you can fused this card out, or by using Illusion Summoner, both are not as reliable as the 3 cards mention above)
Otherwise, I'm done with the list. Overall, I don't hate the list as much as other, but the list DO need to be shorten, as it's getting more and more ridiculously long...
