Article 49: Sayonara, Chaos
As usual, my semi-annual ban list comment article is back.
Anyway, like all ban list, it has some goods and bads, will this one fare better??
New BAN:
Chaos Sorceror - Do I see this coming?? Of course yes. This should sent a big message: START THINKING OF ANY DECK OUTSIDE OF USING CHAOS + LIGHT AND DARK.
Thousand Eye Sacrifice - Well, this card being the first ever Fusion monster to be ban. Is this card broken? No. But is cards around this card broken?? [Instant Fusion] is just released, and the old way of [Metamorphosis] still exist. In the end, this card stall too much, being too powerful of an removal = Begone.
Tsukuyomi - Questionable. But seeing this card can get stupid and create too much combo by itself, much like Yata before it, it need to be gone.
Pharaoh's Shrine - The lesson behind this banning - NO, activating Trap earlier than you should be able to is not good.
Theft - I hate this card, many people hate this card, and it's deservingly ban. I mean, this card is almost as broken as its counterpart, [Change of Heart].
Restricted:
Victory Dragon - Since they ban Tsuku along with many lock-friendly card, it would not be as easy to pull V-Dragon off. Restriction is fine to me.
Saint Magician - Some people like this, other people (like me) think this is really questionable. True, you'll say that Mask of Darkness is restrict also. But if you read my opinion, this card don't even deserve to be on the list. Not to mention, Tsuku is gone, meaning no more idiotic (Tewart style) Reverse Summon Saint Mage, Angel's Gift, Tsuku, repeat.
Spirit Reaper - COME ON, this card is stupid. Marshy is gone for a LONG time, and about time they restrict this even more annoying critter.
Forest Guard Green Baboon - I expect this. While personally I don't like this (For obvious reason that I run a Baboon deck), this card is pain in the ass to go up against due to its sheer size (Who say size don't matter) and, well, it just keep coming back.
Apostle of Obliteration - I don't like this. On the other hand, though, this encourage people to at least be save putting things like defense. Not to mention, we get an extra [Mercenary Troops] (e. Exiled Force) to replace this card, if anything.
Gravity Bind - Level B Restriction Area is on the list, so this is no surprise. True, one may say that this card is not broken, and with [Heavy Storm] not banned, this card is not even that good. But one thing is, Konami is telling you that stall is not the way to win games.
Compensation of Blood - I don't get this at all. Gadgets?? Gadget Control don't use more than 1 copy of this card, and other?? Well, there's quite a few combo with this card ([Dark Ptera] + [Cannon Soldier] + this card), but I never heard of someone actually using those combos, so...
Destruction Ring - I'm quite surprise, period. I don't hate this card, but giving yet another card for cheap win?? Well, maybe Konami try to promote the idea of "It's possible to tie duels also"...
Future Fusion - Expected. This card is broken, period. With the right card (Chimeratech Over Dragon), this card is essentially a [Painful Choice] to dump more than half of the deck to Graveyard. Stupid?? Well, there's a reason that this card is up here...
Semi-Restrict:
Hoodlum Mercenary Troops - While this may seems surprising to many people, this card waste you a summon, and there's always the chance of having open field after using this card. Not to mention, Mr. Tewart loves this card...
Hurricane - I don't get this at all. People don't use more than 2 anyway, and the only deck that do is Chimera OTK, which is way weaken due to the restriction of [Future Fusion]. Not to mention, [Heavy Storm] remains untouched, so, reasoning?? I don't see any...
Sealing Wall of Light - People don't expect this, I do. Being the backbone of many modern stall deck, this card is sometime worse than its bigger brothers (G-Bind and Lvl.
B)
. Not to mention, maybe (A big one) Konami see how much this card can do in a Reverse Quiz OTK...
Reckless Greed - About time. No Shrine = Weaken, and the fact that it's extremely hard to pull 2 [Reckless Greed] off at the same time = This card SHOULD be down here for a long time...
Off:
Reflect Bounder - Expected. Not much people use this card anyway, and putting 3 in a deck is not even a wise choice. Not to mention, Konami loves Machine, and Mr. Tewart loves this card.
Lightning Vortex - People fuss all over this, but the fact that putting 3 copies of this card in a deck is not a wise choice either = Unrestrictable. Not to mention, there's just not enough deckspace 90% of the time for one to use too many copies of this card anyway...
Ration - FINALLY??
Weapon Drop - Last list around, no one knows why this card is up there. Now, it's down here already. Guess Konami actually do think...(I think Mr. Tewart is the one who influence this, but yeah...it's a big guess)
Some cards that I think survive the list:
1. Gadgets: Frankly, I'm REALLY surprise that Konami didn't touch them. Guess Konami DO love Machine...
2. CyDra: People cry for restriction. But guess again...Konami DO love Machines...
3. Stein: People cry for restricting this card also. While this card is stupid, but D-Ring is back, and restriction would do nothing. Not to mention, Konami DO love Machines...
Some questionable choices:
1. Metamorphosis & Scapegoat: Scapegoat maybe a big staller, but Meta?? The best target for this card is gone (TER), and this card is not even broken by itself
2. Book of Moon: This card is not that good anyway. Not to mention, Saint Mage, its biggest combo card, is axed to 1.
Otherwise, it's clear that Mr. Tewart did put lots of his influence on the list, and frankly, it's obvious that Mr. Tewart, along with Konami, are absolutely in love with Machines...
