Article 48: It's now time to say goodbye...to Chaos
Every 6 months, we see some changes to the ban/restriction list plus 100 pages of whines and whines on various forums concerning why their behated/beloved card is on/not on the list.
In this list, it's not as crazy as the last one (usually the March list changes crazier than the September one, but the September ones always have bigger impact)
Here's just my 2 cents on why the cards are like it is, why some are not on here, and what they did wrong...and also a BIG prediction on the meta shakeup.
Banished:
Chaos Sorceror - It's not hard for Konami to reason this ban. Chaos decks are everywhere. Every "tournament" deck in the game is some kinds of variant of "Chaos". After the 8 Chaos deck World Champ, it's just time to shake up the things and make people change the way they play cards for a while...
Thousand Eye Sacrifice - This one is given, especially after the release of [Instant Fusion]. Konami want Fusions to be play, but not the way that using all the Fusion supports as a way to make more 1-for-1 removals.
Tsukuyomi - This card is very verstile...to a level of annoying. This card is basically a Normal Magic reusable version of Book of Moon, and basically make anything with defense of 1000 or less looks bad, and all Reverse effect monsters looks good.
Pharaoh's Shrine - Konami's message to everyone: play Trap the NORMAL WAY!
Theft - Many players had long complaint about the game swinging ability of this card. So what if opponent gains lifes? This card basically CHANGE the pace of the game.
Restricted:
Victory Dragon - I have no idea...they feel that Lock deck is not as good as before. But who use more than one of this card anyway?
Saint Magician - Hey, [Mask of Darkness] is up here, why not her? This card gains just a little bit too much advantage.
Spirit Reaper - [Marshmellon] is up here, why not this? Target die? So what...it reap cards!!!
Green Baboon - Konami does not want a powerful monster purely dominating the game. This card is powerful, but the main problem is how hard this card can be find. It creates unfair advantages for those who have this. This card is also sweeping over the tournament...and restriction just makes anti-this card a little easier, but not much changes (and summoning 3 at a time is insane)
Apostle of Obliteration - Since the heavy restriction of Reverse effect monsters...OK, Konami just want the game to play back the "old way", or, face-down cards are suppose to be "traps", not for one to easily remove. Not to mention, the World Champ wins the game with this card...
Gravity Bind - Stall, goodbye. Just too much people hating stall decks...
Compensation of Blood - Black Ptera OTK, Gadget Summonings. Well, Konami thinks the only way to play Gadgets is via this card....
Destruction Ring - This card is broken...but it's time to bring this back for little fun?? (Oh yeah, and finally I can use my G4 version of Ring again!!)
Future Fusion - Chimera
Semi-Restrict:
Mercenary Troops - It lost its power. This card is one summon for one monster anyway...at least it have some "cost".
Hurricane - Absolutely no idea...maybe because they want less M/T removals??
Sealing Wall of Light - This is "the engine" for lock deck/many OTK decks anyway. Semi restricting it would not kill the decks, but would make them less powerful
Reckless Greed - About time this card is back to 2...especially after all the OTKs are dead.
Off:
Reflect Bounder - Tewart said so: "Who in the world used this card anymore?". Just lost its power...maybe its time people again to look into this card again.
Lightning Vortex - Because nobody play this...so the pre-emptive restriction fail.
Ration - I never get why it's semi anyway (especially this card is only good with [Mirage of Nightmare]). Bringing back this card also help the new Chain cards from CDIP.
Weapon Drop - I have no idea why it's restricted anyway.
Some controversial moves by Konami that "disappointed" people:
1. Not restricting/banning [Devil Franken] (e. Cyber Stein) - This card is indeed stupid. However, with the back of [D-Ring], I doubt people would not fear losing "teching" this card. Not to mention, the card is never play in Japan/Asia outside of Chimera OTK anyway.
2. Not touching the Gadgets - Although the deck itself is broken, the cards are WAY overrated. One can also play the same type of deck (monsters with a bunch of removals) not necessary using the Gadgets and it's not a bad deck.
Here's a list of other comments by me:
1. With gone of TES, Goat and Metamorphosis is still in 1....
2. They still didn't bring back some unplayed card back to 3. They did with some...but not enough
3. Why Konami loves Machines is beyond my answer
4. FINALLY NO MORE CHAOS!! But now people have to search HARD for the "next winning condition"
Here's a short "new Tier list"...purely guessing
(Please reply on the forum thread for the deck types I missed)
Tier 1:
Cy-Calibur Beats (I wonder why this is never played anymore)
Gadget Control variants
Dark Realm mixing with standard cards
Tier 1.5:
"Mix in every other good cards"/"randommmmnnesss" Beatdown
Nepth-Lord
Cyber OTK
Beastdown (There's always [Manticore])
Burn
Tier 2:
Most good sub-type Beatdown deck
"Rosenberg" Counter-Angel (XD)
Tier 12832721
E-Hero (Hey, the Tier is higher...too bad still nobody would play them)
