Article 47: Chain Impact

After some weeks with magazine infos, some false rumors, some more flame wars, and whatever...finally the long "anticipated" (I would state the obvious: it's not-so-anticipated), the new set is finally release. Again, thanks to GONDORA for his always-wonderful scans and this time DeepSnow to kick off the "translation days".

Anyway, as usual, I would write my first impression on each set with the themes, the decks, and at last, the best/worst

Card Trends and theme:
After the 41 GX card madness, this set feels very different. If I didn't count wrong, there're merely only 12 GX anime card in this set. Feel weird, eh?

With the lack of GX cards "taking up" spaces in a set (a lot due to the coming Duelist Packs), there's the set space where the game can explore things that we use everyday but never...of course those are the Chains and the "position".

Of course, first of all, everybody's favorite [LV] mechanic is finally back. And to surprise, there're actually 2 new Aliens in the set. Talking about old cards, this set have a lot of "old-school" feel in it with the new/very-hard-to-use version of a banned card, such as [Miracle Reborn] to [Monster Reborn], or [Accumulated Happiness] and [Pot of Greed].

As for "cycles" and what-not, there're the 6 Statues. But this set is more about counterparts. Such as Stray Devil/Violent Ogre, Vanity Devil/Vanity Ruler, Earth Mother Iris/Lightning Punisher, Limit Lift/Instant Fusion, A Flash of Magic Sealing/Straight Flush, and Chain Healing/Chain Blast.

Deck Types:
It's time to discuss about any new deck types: fun or what-not...
- Cyber Dark Dragon
- Allure Queen or Dark Lucius Level
- Chain Madness (not sure how to build one...however)

For deck types that get boosts:
- Demon sub-type (to minimal)
- "Anti-Special Summon" (not sure if this type of deck existed, however)
- Beast-Warrior (again, to minimal)
- Bird (see above)
- Alien
- Demise Ritual
- Bounce
- Normal Monster
- Counter-Angel (Not sure how, however...)

I must admit that if POTD list is short, this is shorter...and hope it will get longer in next big set...

USEFUL CARDS:
As obvious, we would now look at the useful (not necessary GREAT!!) cards that I believe could be consider to add to deck (no matter theme or every decks...). It goes down from the cardlist.
- Cyber Ogre
- Cyber Esper
- Allure Queens (just for the arts...XD)
- Dark Luciuses
- Snipestalker
- Vanity Devil
- Combofighter/Combomaster
- Charging Rhinos
- Storm Shooter
- Alien Mars
- Cyber Ogre 2
- Infecting Cell "A"
- Limit Lift
- Instant Fusion
- Receding Circuit
- Tripwire
- Justibreak
- Cyber Shadow Guardna
- Ascending Black Horn

This is it for my first look at the set. Of course, there're always possibilities that I underrate/overrate some cards. But the list above is really me "putting down any cards that you can even play" anyway.

But now, we have to choose the worst card of this set...

(Drumroll): Linear Cannon : This is hard, there're a LOAD of bad cards (mostly situational problem) in this set. But after deciding between this and [Countercleaner], I would say [Linear Cannon] is worse. Reason? Well, there's [Catapult Turtle], next up is [Cannon Soldier], or even [Mass Driver]. But why one cannot activate more Magic (Spell) cards is very confusing...
