Article 32: Cybernetic World
Again, on the first day of the set translation file being finish, I would write an article based on the same thing over and over that I started in 309 (I think).
Card Trends and theme:
This set, like the last set, have the theme of the set same as the name: Cybernetic. When you think about Cybernetic, it would usually be Machine, Electrics, then computer game characters. Well, this set have 6 cards with the name "Cyber" in it (that include 3 Cyber Dragons). Also, this set have 16 Machine monsters, where it just beat the old record set at 305 with 14 Demon.
As usual, this set have cycles. First, as I mention before, the word [Cyber] is in the set for 6 times, which is pretty much 4 different monsters (3 of those [Cyber] count the [Cyber Dragon] series, which I would count as 1 here). The [LV] trend finally stop in this set as there's 0 monster with that trend. (I don't count Hane Kuriboh LV10 as one...since he's not really the same type of [LV] monsters...)The [Battery Man] series continue from last set, and it would probably grow even more. At last, the Spirit from last set come back with their own technique (card # 050-053). And [Pikeru] finally get a rival...Kuraso...
Finally, few cards get a "new" version, as following:
- Soitsu/Doitsu vs. Aitsu/Koitsu
- Goblin Elite Force (Giant Orc), Indomitable Fighter (Goblin Attack Force), and Guardian Spirit (Second Goblin)
- Giant Battleship - Crystal Core (maybe this would be a cycle...I don't know)
This set have even more anime cards than TLM...result of GX...(total of 21...WOW!!)
1. ALL of the Vehicles (001, 006-011, 033-034) (Sho)
2. E-Hero support cards (012, 014, 046-048), Hane Kuriboh LV10 (005, 045), Dark Catapulter
3. Cyber Dragon series, Power Bond
Deck Types:
NOW, let's talk about the new deck types that I could think right now of a little bit:
- Machine weenie/Sho's theme deck/"Vehicle" deck
- "Power Bond" OTK deck
- Cyber Dragon deck
- D.D.M. RFG resurrection
- [...tsu] Union deck
- "Bad hand managment" deck (abuse the "0 hand" effects)
- Frog/Water + whatever deck (it don't work well...trust me)
For deck types that get boosts:
- Any Main-type deck (except Light/Dark). Water get the most boost.
- Machine
- E-Hero
- "Hane Kuriboh" deck (if it even exist...LOL)
- "Dimensional" deck
- Skill Drain deck (or, Skill Drain the "change to defense" monsters...)
- Beast/Primal deck
- Demon sub-type/name deck
- Spellcaster deck
USEFUL CARDS:
As obvious, we would now look at the useful (not necessary GREAT!!) cards that I believe could be consider to add to deck (no matter theme or every decks...). It goes down from the cardlist.
- Steamroid
- Drillroid
- Dark Catapulter
- Cyber Dragon
- Cybernetic Magician
- Goblin Elite Force
- Indomitable Fighter - Rey Rey
- Different Dimension Master
- Cyber Twin Dragon
- Cyber End Dragon
-
System Down (hint: DNA Surgery)
- Skyscraper
- Earth Spirit Technique - "Kurogane" (hint: Scapegoat)
- Water Spirit Technique - "Aoi" (hint: Killer Snake)
- Fire Spirit Technique - "Kurenai" (hint: Lava Golem...LOL)
- Wind Spirit Technique - "Masashi"
- Rival Appear!
- Dimensional Wall
That's it...this set is not THAT good (it's not utterly crap, however), it's better than TLM, through. Cyber Dragon seems to be a great card to play with, otherwise, only few other cards is good...and the copycat cards hurt my impression to this set...I do NOT freaking want another copy of Goblin Strike Team...
Again...I would pick out the worst card in the set: Patroid (The effect is pretty useless in this game...)
This time in extra, my most overrated card vote goes to...Hane Kuriboh LV10 (it is not even good...)
