Article 12: Effect, RDS, and PP7/Movie
It's quite awhile that I didn't type any article...
First, I'll go over parts of Priority, b/c of 4 cards in RDS.
They're what? The 4 cards that read "When this card is successfully summon, Trap cards can't be activated"
WHAT DOES THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN??
Then...it's time for some Priority ruling, as discuss in latest KoJ rule Book
Priority always belongs to the turn player at the beginning of a Phase, before any of the following condition happen:
- Turn Player play any cards, or, activate any cards
- At the end of a Phase
This is about the part of "Summoning"
1. Summon a monster to the field.
- This would change priority to opponent, since you play a card
- This goes into the Chain Block, to resolve the summoning
2. Opponent declare whether negate the summon or not
- This means, response to the summon, and go in Chain 2 after the summon
- Means, [God's Declaration] or [Ascending Horn] can be used here
- Notice that, though, if opponent do nothing, priority shift back to turn player
- No, [Tidal Wave] and [Trap Hole] (And other nor Counter Trap) can't be activate as of now
3a. Continuous Effect activate
- Such as [Android - Psycho Shocker]'s Trap negation, [Horus Black Flame Dragon LV6]'s unaffected by Magic effect, etc.
- This DON'T shift priority, as no cards is really, play
3b. Trigger Effect activate
- Such as [Magic Warrior - Breaker]'s adding counter, [Troop Commander] sp. summoning effect, [Black Magician of Chaos] getting Magic effect.
- THIS INCLUDE THE 4 cards in RDS, which Trap cards can't be activate when it's successfully summon
- This don't resolve the effect, just trigger the effect.
- This would shift Priority to opponent, as something is "activated" by Trigger
3c. Activate ability can be activate at this time.
- Such as [Exclusive Virus], [Initiate Troops]
- Priority switch to opponent, as something is "activated"
4. Opponent can now, use the Priority and apply effect that response to the summon
- Such as [Pit Trap], [Tidal Wave], etc.
- Things like [Destruction Ring], [Ceasefire Treaty], etc. can also be activate now
- This is also why [Android - Psycho Shocker] can't be [Pit Trap] or [Tidal Wave]'d
How priority matters in those 4 cards that read "When this card is successfully summon, no Trap cards can be activate"??
Opponent now basically can't use their Priority to activate any Trap card in Step 4, as opponent CAN'T response to the summon when it's successfully summon after Step 2.
Can opponent [God Declaration] or use [Ascending Horn] on them?? YES, as those monster are NOT yet successfully summon, Counter Trap that negate the summon can be use.
Hopes that solve lots of question about those 4 cards.
2nd thing, RDS overview/discussion.
The set, as people know, is released in Taiwan yesterday (Even though the official release date is Aug. 5), and after translation, I'll just make an overview and my opinion on them...
The set boost Machine in some sort, cards such as [Machine Duplication], [Perfect Machine King], etc. all boost Machine deck by some way, making them way more useful.
Fire receive yet another large boost, this time, led by crazy rusher call [Explosive Flame Union Body - Gaia Soul], then by [Reversed Flame Spirit] (or something like that...). Also, the card anticipate by some, [Fire Emperor - Testaros], is released in the set, making Fire now a more competitive type.
Harpy Lady get boost, as they release 3 cards from Bandai Era, Harpy Lady 1, 2, 3; also, their "attack" cards, after BEWD, BM, and REBD, [Triangle X Blast], is also released.
Old cards again got put back as reference, such as [Moke Moke] from 309 (in [Angry Moke Moke] and [King Moke Moke]), [Kozaki] from 309 (in [Kozaki's Research]), the Tree Man 18 series from 301 (Giant Tree-Man 18), 307 (Giant Flame Tree Man 18), SoD (Giant Wood Charcoal 18), and now, [Android Tree Man 18]. [White Magician Pikeru] also appear in a card, [Pikeru's Magic Zone (?)].
2 Fusions is in the set, one is [King Moke Moke], the other, [Dragon Knight of Dark Realm - Dark Sword], basically have the same stats as [Black Dragon] union on [Warrior of Dark Realm - Dark Sword], with a Graveyard removal effect instead of Trample (when Union).
So far, the cards in the set are either very crazy, or very sucky. Some of them are not even close to usable, some other are fine, and some already find place in deck (especially those Fire cards)
Lots of weird wording also appear in this set, outside of the 4 "When this card is successfully summon, no Trap can be activate", some other cards had confused text also, making this more weird.
Next, shift to PP7, related to the Movie.
PP7 is basically the Japanese release of the English Exclusive Pack, except they don't have [Treasure from Sky] (e. Card of Sanctity) in the pack. Those card, in my opinion, are really...trash.
Those Sphinxes, they can't even be used, why bother to talk about them
Other commons?? They're basically bunch of junk...at least I only find [Rare Metal Dragon] more usable but that's it.
The movie...I laugh when I see the commercial on 7PM...it's still a joke in my opinion, and the movie is just bunch of junk that 4Kids make to get kids' money.
Guess what?? Grab the cards, and leave, as the movie is really...stupid...
